    O'Reilly Auto Parts Street Machine Nationals

    O’Reilly Auto Parts Fall Street Machine Nationals, major performance-enthusiast automotive event cruises back into the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield, MO for a celebration of everything automotive! Thousands of street machines, hot rods, muscle cars, and 2-wheel drive trucks are expected in Springfield on Saturday and Sunday, September 27 & 28, 2014. Show hours on Saturday - 9:00am to 5:00pm, and Sunday - 9:00am to 3:00pm. Tickets are on-sale now and you can save in advance by purchasing tickets at participating O’Reilly Auto Parts locations. Brand new this year, two stars of the re Over 1000 participants will show-n-shine and cruise as they compete for over 60 Mickey Thompson Show-N-Shine awards. The award ceremony is set to wrap up the weekend at the main stage at 3:00pm, Sunday, September 28th. Street Machine Nationals wants you to “Take A Kid To A Car Show” as we have enhanced the Family Fun Zone! The Party Station Family Fun Zone will return and features multiple inflatable games. There will be a small charge for those that want to play but it will be worth all of the fun the kids will have. The kids will also be able to build their very own Model Car and take it home with them! The free Make It Take It will be available while supplies last Saturday afternoon! Saturday night all the madness happens in front of the grandstands for the night of crash and burn. Contestants will light up their tires and the sky during the Mickey Thompson Burnout Competition, trying to earn themselves a new set of tires. The burnout competition will be followed by a fan favorite, the crashin’, bashin’ Demotion Derby. New this year for Saturday night activities will be MAGDATUDE, a fire throwing, car melting, 20,000 horsepower J46 Jet Engine truck.

    Operation: Paintball Warrior

    It's time for the 8th annual Operation: Paintball Warrior, on Saturday, September 27th, for a full day of paintball fun to raise money for the Springfield Disabled American Veterans (DAV) who help transport disabled veterans for free to the VA clinics and hospitals in the Ozarks. 7 teams of 15 will compete in a round-robin paintball tournament of capture the flag. Participants must be 10 years of age or older to play. All miniors (18 & under must be acompanied by an adult during the whole game day.) Please pre-register for this event.

    Halloween Hustle 5K Run/Walk

    Dress like a spook for this fun run/walk supporting The Kitchen, Inc. on Saturday, October 18, 9 AM at City Utilities. Learn about The Kitchen’s clients, Trunk-Or-Treat along the race route through historic Springfield, and win prizes for running and for costumes! Please bring a toiletry item for the Kitchen. Entry Fee through October 10: $10 children 12 and under, $25 adults. After October 10: $15 children 12 and under, $30 adults. Packet pick up: City Utilities Training Center, 301 East Central on October 17 from 7 AM – 6 PM and October 18 from 8 – 9 AM.

    13th Annual Memorial Sight Saving Scramble

    Queens City Lions Club 13th Annual Memorial Sight Saving Scramble will take place on Friday, October 24, 2014. Proceeds will benefit Vision Rehabilitation Center of the Ozarks to provide services to people with vision loss regardless of their ability to pay. 4-Person Scramble at Millwood Golf & Racquet Club. $400 per team includes green fees, cart, box lunch, driving range and awards. 10:30 am registration, 11 a.m. tee time.
